Welcome to Sweet Home Middle School
The Sweet Home Middle School program is designed to meet the academic, personal, and social needs of students in grades 6-8. The faculty and staff work together to create an environment that is supportive, yet encourages student independence and self-reliance.

Students are placed on interdisciplinary teams to best meet their needs. Teachers on each team meet on a regular basis to discuss student progress and to coordinate curriculum and long-range goals. A peer mediation program, working lunch groups, the school musical, intramurals, clubs, and team sports help make Sweet Home Middle School a comfortable, stimulating place for every student.

What to do if your child must
be absent from school...
102209_112416_1.png

1.   Call the Middle School Attendance Office to report your child’s absence:

Parents are requested to call the Attendance Office at 250-1462, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m., if their child will be absent or late to school.

2.   Send in a note with your child on the day they return to school:

Students who are absent from school are expected to bring in a written excuse from a parent or guardian, the day they return to school. This note should state the exact date(s) and reason for the absence(s).The absence note should be brought to the Attendance Office at the beginning of the school day. Telephone calls to our attendance office do not take the place of a written excuse. If, after 4 days, no note has been received, the absence(s) will be marked as illegal.

3.   Request any missed assignments:

Parents of students who are absent may request copies of missed assignments. Parent requests should be made throughthe Student Services Office, by calling 250-1459. You will be asked to provide your child’s name and grade level. Assignmentswill be available in the Student Services Office at the end of the school day. Parents are encouraged to place their requests as early in the day as possible. Requests received late in the day may result in assignments not being available until the following school day.

Please refer to page 4 of the student agenda book for more information regarding ourattendance policies and regulations.
